Elizabeth Vago provides a space where clients can hopefully feel heard, supported and held in whatever they choose to bring. She also believes that although clients may initially come to therapy because they find themselves struggling with particular painful issues and life in general, therapy also offers the added opportunity of a very rich and rewarding journey of growing self-awareness which goes beyond just healing past wounds. It can help clients to lead a fuller and happier life and to have better relationships out in the world. She uses an integrative approach which means that she draws upon a variety of different approaches depending on the client’s needs and what may work best for them. This may (but it doesn’t have to) involve more creative approaches e.g. drawing and guided visualisations which can sometimes be more effective than talking on its own.
Having trained and worked as a lawyer, Liz feels that her legal training helps to bring a focused and grounded approach to her work as a therapist, which she believes is sometimes needed. She understands the pressures of being in a competitive environment and generally not feeling “good enough”. Liz has experience of working with suicidal clients and clients in real crisis, isolation and loneliness, abuse, depression and issues of self-esteem and self-confidence.
Liz is currently working towards a Diploma in Transpersonal Counselling and Psychotherapy. Her training is also integrative and she works on an open-ended basis with The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham. She offers therapy in English and French.
