Katie Campion
Katie is skilled at providing open, non-judgemental and collaborative space for clients to be with, and explore, whatever is happening in their lives. Existential therapy involves exploring the client’s world in depth, what things really mean to them. When life throws up challenges, we can sometimes feel boxed in and stuck, existential therapy helps to create room for more possibility and in that way reduce suffering and feeling trapped. Katie thrives off emotional connection and joint discovery and has a natural curiosity and creativity in the way in which she sees things. She works in a very human and authentic way, supporting clients to bring their whole self to therapy, and that may include not really knowing what therapy is all about or how it can help. And this is warmly welcome.
Katie worked for over 10 years as a Neuro-physiotherapist in the NHS with people facing significant life events such as stroke, brain/spinal tumours, or the continual losses faced with degenerative conditions such as MS or Parkinson’s. After 10 years in the NHS Katie moved into the charity sector teaching and leading projects bringing patients and health professionals together to co-design and co-produce solutions that really work. She is currently a Senior Lecturer and Patient Involvement Lead within a medical school in South London bringing the patient voice into medical education in order to humanise healthcare. Her teaching sessions are always warm, impactful and well-liked by students. Katie is part of the LGBTQ+ community and has experience in issues related to gender, sexuality, identity and life transitions. She also has particular interest in bereavement and loss, particularly within different cultures and communities. From her clinical background Katie has experience of working with people facing long term conditions such as chronic pain or fatigue, as well as working with people with cognitive or communication impairments.
Katie Campion is an Existential Psychotherapist in training and registered with UPCA. She works within The Awareness Centre in Lambeth.
