Kitty Felix-Smith
Kitty Felix-Smith is a trainee Humanistic Psychotherapist and a Student Member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). They are currently working towards a Master’s in Humanistic Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling at The Awareness Centre, and work within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling Service in Lambeth. Kitty is developing their clinical experience by supporting clients with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Their humanistic training focuses on self-awareness, personal growth, and the importance of the therapeutic relationship, allowing them to offer compassionate and individualised support tailored to each client’s unique experiences and needs.
Kitty’s approach is based on creating a safe, empathetic, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their feelings, experiences, and relationships. They work collaboratively with clients in the present moment, supporting acceptance, change, and autonomy while helping individuals build and maintain healthier relationships. Kitty uses both talking therapy and somatic work to bring awareness to the connection between cognitive experiences and the felt experience of the body, supporting clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves and integrating different parts of their identity. They believe in working alongside clients in a way that honours their individuality and encourages self-expression, helping them feel seen, heard, and supported throughout the therapeutic process.
Kitty has a strong background in mental health and the charity sector, offering a diverse range of support to marginalised communities. Over the years, they have worked in various roles, particularly in mental health advocacy, supporting individuals in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Their experience also includes housing and homelessness services, giving them insight into the challenges faced by vulnerable groups and the wider circumstances that can affect emotional wellbeing. Kitty has particular experience supporting LGBTQ+ individuals with complex issues relating to gender and sexuality, providing a safe and affirming space for exploration, self-expression, and understanding. They also have experience supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties, including depression and anxiety, as well as those navigating relationship challenges, feelings of disconnection, and isolation. Kitty is committed to helping clients feel understood and empowered as they work through emotional difficulties and move towards greater connection and wellbeing.
