Lee Lowe
Lee Lowe is a trainee integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service and is currently working towards an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
Lee strives to create a space where clients can feel truly seen and heard in a safe, supportive environment. Working integratively, she draws upon a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to each client’s individual needs in the here and now. She uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand and change unhelpful patterns in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, enabling them to work with these thoughts rather than be controlled by them. She also incorporates Transactional Analysis to help clients recognise the patterns and roles they adopt in relationships, making these easier to understand and manage in healthier ways. Alongside these approaches, Lee uses mindfulness techniques, which can help reduce stress, manage anxiety, improve mood, reduce symptoms of depression, and enhance emotional regulation. As she continues her training, she is continually expanding her therapeutic knowledge, allowing her to draw on an ever-growing range of approaches to best meet the individual needs of each client.
Before training as a counsellor, Lee worked in the film industry, giving her first-hand insight into the pressures of a fast-paced environment where burnout, anxiety, and stress can often lead to unhelpful coping strategies. This experience has shaped her interest in understanding the underlying causes of emotional distress and supporting clients in developing healthier ways of coping. Lee has a particular interest in working with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and self-harm, and is committed to helping clients better understand themselves and move towards greater emotional wellbeing.
