Naila Shah creates a safe, empathic and non judgmental space for her clients to discuss freely their concerns, at their own pace. She believes the counselling process can have a positive effect by empowering clients to gain self awareness and a deeper understanding of who they truly are, enabling clients to feel more confident and fulfilled. Naila uses a Psychodynamic approach which means she explores childhood experiences with the client and conscious and unconscious processes that may be influencing their behaviour today.
Naila has a background in business in the food industry, which has helped her understand the stresses and demands that exist within a competitive environment. She and has a range of experiences from her volunteer work at at a young peoples helpline as well as whilst volunteering at a school. Coming from an ethnic minority background Naila is aware of the cultural sensitivities and pressures that can exist for many clients. Her own experiences through education, volunteer work, parent hood and managing businesses have given her an understanding of the challenges and pressures that we all face through different walks of life.
Naila is a Psychodynamic counsellor, and a registered member of the BACP. She has a BA combined honours in Psychology and Sociology. Currently she is working towards a diploma in Psychodynamic counselling. Naila works within The Awareness centre’s low cost counselling service in Tooting, and can offer counselling in English, Urdu and Hindi.
