
Sam Hughes - Clinical Supervisor
Sam Hughes is a MBACP Accredited Psychodynamic Counsellor and Supervisor, with over 10 years’ experience. She holds a L4 Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Diploma in Clinical Supervision. In 2020, Sam was presented with the Award for Outstanding Contribution to the NHS by The Royal College of General Practitioners.
Sam’s integrative approach focuses on Psychodynamic therapy, with a specialist focus on Object Relations and Attachment theories as her core modality. She is also a tutor for the Psychodynamic module of the Awareness Centre’s Diploma in Integrative Counselling. Her extensive experience has included working with male inmates at Pentonville Prison, as an in-house counsellor at an Islington GP Practice, teaching, supervising and running her own private practice.
Within her supervision work, Sam draws on her background in art and design and applies her creative thought processes within supervision and within her teaching. She is a committed advocate of equal access to therapy in our diverse culture and encourages supervisees to embrace differences and cultural impacts within clinical work, bringing an open and encouraging warmth to develop her supervisees within their own practices.
