Zara Knight is a trainee therapist using the integrative humanistic psychotherapeutic approach when consulting with clients. She tailors sessions to the needs of the client, taking into account that everyone is unique and their treatment needs to reflect that individuality. She has completed her Foundation Certificate in Counselling and Psychotherapy and is working towards her Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy. Zara works within The Awareness Centre’s low cost counselling service in Clapham and is a student member of COSRT.

The collaborative therapeutic relationship is central to Zara’s practice, where she creates a supportive and empathetic environment where both couples and individuals can feel secure in exploring their concerns, without fear of judgement or criticism. She recognises how difficult it can be to come to therapy and also how powerful that process can be, despite the challenges. She views the client’s needs as paramount to a successful alliance; their needs dictate the way in which she works. By integrating various therapeutic modalities, Zara ensures a flexible and adaptive process, fostering growth, healing, and positive change.  Utilising Gestalt principles, Zara helps clients understand their emotions and behaviours, promoting self-awareness and self-acceptance. She uses a psychodynamic approach in exploring the unconscious factors that influence relationship dynamics and sexual issues, so clients can achieve greater self-understanding and work through their anxieties and relational challenges.

As an educator, Zara has developed a significant amount of experience in conflict resolution, emotional development, and issues governing social and emotional anxiety. She is cognisant of how work-related stress and the expectations of society can damage our interpersonal relationships and cause people to develop unhealthy attitudes and behaviours. She works to help clients to identify areas of emotional dissonance and provide more positive approaches to managing the complexities of themselves as relational and sexual people. She specialises in sexuality, sexual issues, relationships and associated anxiety. Furthermore, she is dedicated to championing diversity, whether it is socially, culturally, sexually or relationally.
