John Daniel

John Daniel - Course Supervisor

John Daniel is a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and supervisor who has worked as a therapist since 2005 and as a clinical supervisor for individuals and groups for the past 10 years. He holds an MA in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling and a Diploma in Integrative Supervision.

John works in an integrative way, drawing on psychodynamic, attachment-based, analytical, trauma-informed, Gestalt, humanistic, existential and transpersonal approaches. Psychosynthesis and Jungian psychology are the main influences on his work.

Alongside his private practice, John has been editor of Private Practice, the BACP journal for counsellors and psychotherapists since 2011, and a contributing editor to Therapy Today. He has spent the past decade teaching and supervising trainee therapists in a range of training settings.

John is mindful of the power inherent in therapeutic relationships and of the ways in which personal, social and cultural influences shape the work. He is committed to an inclusive approach and is LGBTQIA+ allied and neurodivergence-informed, with an awareness of the impact that discrimination and inequality can have on mental health and therapeutic experience.

Before becoming a therapist, John worked in the arts. He has a BA (Hons) in English Literature and Drama and an MA in Fine Art. Across both careers runs a fascination with what it means to be human – our stories, the roles we inhabit, and our capacity for growth and change.
