Richard provides a relaxed, safe space where the client can feel supported and free to share their issues confidentially and without judgement. He likes to work in a collaborative way, helping the client learn more about themselves, identifying the source of their issues and developing strategies to manage them.

Richard uses various modalities to help his clients. In a Person-Centred way, the client is at the centre of everything, and they can look at patterns of relating with others. Using Psychodynamic theory can help with childhood or family problems and investigate the background to some of their issues. Transaction Analysis helps explain how we react to others in a parental or child-like manner. Each type of therapy will be specially tailored to the client’s individual needs.

With over 30 years working in management in the Leisure and Retail sector, Richard has considerable experience with high-profile and high-pressure environments and work-related stress. He currently works with young children and last year worked as a counsellor in a primary school. His life experience is with alcohol addiction, cancer, dementia, anxiety, and depression.

Richard is training to be an integrative counsellor in the last year of his CPCAB Diploma with CPTA in Islington and is a member of BACP. Richard currently works within the NHS Counselling Service in Lambeth.
