Seda Albay is a counsellor and psychotherapist; she is working towards a Masters in an integrative approach, and is a member of the professional body (BACP). She works as an integrative therapist drawing on the approaches (existential, humanistic and psychodynamic) she finds are most suitable for the issues that arise in the therapy room. Seda works with The Awareness Centre’s NHS counselling service in Wandsworth and low cost service in Tooting.
Seda is a warm and welcoming therapist who is able to provide her clients with the supportive and holding environment in order to explore during sessions. She draws from the core conditions of the humanistic approach (empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence) in order to set the safe therapeutic relationship enabling an open and comfortable space for her clients. Though therapy is a space for clients to process painful thoughts, feelings and experiences, Seda believes in the importance and strives towards working with clients to unravel their potential to live a life that is more satisfying. She has a natural ability to work alongside her clients to listen and understand what they would like to work towards. The approach Seda uses during her work is dependent on her individual client.
The good listening skills and level of empathy come from Seda’s work in a special education needs school before psychotherapy. Her background of working with a diverse range of people from a different religion, race, age, gender, sexual orientation enables her to understand the importance of the diverse needs of her clients.
