Sumeya Ali
Sumeya Ali is Trainee Psychotherapist and Counsellor and a member of the BACP, working within the Low Cost Counselling Services at The Awareness Centre in Clapham. Sumeya is currently working towards a masters in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Sumeya is also trained in Islamic approaches to Psychotherapy.
Sumeya provides a warm and compassionate space where clients can feel truly seen and heard. She believes that therapy is not only a process for understanding and working through emotional challenges but also an opportunity to unlock personal potential and foster inner growth. Trained in both Psychodynamic Counselling and Islamic Counselling, Sumeya helps clients explore their unconscious processes and past experiences while offering culturally sensitive, holistic support. Her integrative approach is tailored to each individual, drawing on psychodynamic techniques to deepen self-awareness and fostering spiritual alignment when appropriate. Sumeya is dedicated to empowering her clients to build resilience, embrace authenticity, and lead more fulfilling lives. Her approach is tailored to the individual client.
With a background in operations management, coaching, and extensive experience supporting staff and students within the Educational and NGO sectors, Sumeya brings a unique perspective to her therapeutic practice. Her work has deepened her understanding of the internal and external challenges people face, including navigating workplace dynamics, managing stress, and overcoming emotional roadblocks. Now as a psychodynamic and faith counselor, she uses this knowledge to help clients explore their inner worlds, fostering resilience, self-awareness, and personal growth. Sumeya specializes in anxiety, self-esteem, cultural identity, and integrating spirituality into therapy. Sumeya has an interest in working with survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
