Daniel Booth believes that providing a calm, compassionate and safe space in which clients can express themselves whilst feeling valued and understood is at the heart of a successful therapeutic process. Working together in an emphatic, non-judgemental way, clients are able to safely process difficult or painful thoughts and feelings, but also explore and tap into their own inner resources and find deeper meaning and greater satisfaction in their everyday lives.
Dan is an Integrative counsellor, meaning he can draw from a number of different schools of thought and theories to adapt and tailor therapy to the client. He mainly uses a person centred approach, so clients can decide what they would like to address, at what pace, and determine what they would like to achieve from the counselling process. Dan is in the final stages of his Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and in the process of becoming BACP accredited. He has studied and practiced meditation and mindfulness for a number of years, and at times integrates techniques in the therapy if appropriate and the client feels it could be of benefit. He is bilingual, fluent in English and Italian, and can offer sessions in either language.
Dan was born in the UK but moved to Italy when he was four. He eventually studied fine art in Florence before returning to the UK to further his studies. He worked for many years for the NHS in mental health services in London where he started exploring art and music therapy. He later decided to retrain as a counsellor and psychotherapist having witnessed the benefits of talking therapies first hand. Having grown up in a culturally fluid environment and having been through wildly varied and colourful life experiences, Dan finds himself at ease with people from all walks of life. He values and cherishes all individuals regardless of gender, race, religion, background, sexual orientation or disability. He works for The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham.
