Josie Urso provides a warm, safe space with an empathic approach for exploration through which you can come to a better understanding of yourself. Her aim is to empower you to transform in the direction you yearn, whilst supporting you in accepting your true self.
As a Gestalt Counsellor, she promotes a non-judgmental self-awareness that enables individuals to develop a unique perspective on life. Josie helps clients to become more aware of how they think, feel and act in the present moment by focusing on the ‘here and now’. She aims to support clients in this process of self-awareness and their work on spotting negative thought patterns and behaviours that can leave them feeling dissatisfied and unhappy in life. Her approach provides insight into ways in which a person can alleviate any current issues and distress they are experiencing in order to aspire to their maximum potential. Ultimately, her humanistic approach works to support clients to be able to self regulate (adjust oneself) emotionally as well as behaviourally in order to experience a better quality of life.
Josie understands the pressure that modern life can have on people and works towards helping clients learn that being aware of their internal self is key to understanding why they react and behave in certain ways. This journey of self-discovery makes her approach beneficial for individuals who can be guarded when it comes to their emotions and find it difficult to process why they feel and act the way they do.
Josie Urso is a Gestalt counsellor and is a member of the BACP. She works within The Awareness Centre’s low-cost counselling service in Clapham. She has completed a Certificate in Humanistic Counselling and is currently working towards a Diploma and Accreditation.
