Michael Schmool aims at establishing a warm, supportive and non-judgmental space in which difficult issues and problems can be explored together. Michael believes that the most important thing in counselling is the therapeutic relationship that will develop between us, in which he hopes that you will really feel heard and understood in a non-judgemental way, and that you will experience him as a real and genuine person. He employs anon-directive approach, with the focus on developing a trusting and honest relationship to help his clients feel safe and supported, and a space where they can address any issues that is affecting their lives.
Prior to training as a person-centred counsellor Michael worked in the advertising, publishing and media industries. Working within the business community both in South Africa and in the UK has exposed him to people from many walks of life. Michael has also worked with clients in South East London within substance misuse day programmes and a residential detox centre as a volunteer, where mental health issues were very prominent. He has always had an interest in helping people, which has led him to training as a counsellor. He has a special interest in supporting clients with anxiety, stress, depression, confidence and self-esteem issues.
