Nicola Skelley is a Counsellor in training, currently studying Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling with an emphasis on the Person-Centred approach although other approaches are explored, considered and valued. The Person-Centred approach is about being with the Client almost alongside them on their Counselling journey. Whilst working empathically, congruently and with unconditional positive regard. Previous to this Nicola has completed and is proficient in Level 2 Counselling Skills, and Level 3 Counselling Studies.

Nicola has experience with loss relating to relationships and the effect a relationship breakdown can have on one’s life, not only loss of the relationship itself but also the person and possibly a home once shared. She also has some experience with self-esteem, and issues that may arise due to someone feeling like they have little or low self-esteem. Nicola has some experience with workplace issues relating to difficult working relationships with colleagues.

In addition to this Nicola has experience of some issues relating to fertility, and how much of a struggle trying to conceive can feel for some people. Nicola has an awareness of the IVF process and the emotional roller coaster it can take people on. Nicola has an understanding of what the IVF journey entails for couples, and also single people embarking on the journey alone.

Nicola is a student member of the BACP, and works within the BACP ethical framework which helps both Counsellor and Client to work safely together. She is currently working within The Awareness Centre’s NHS Counselling Service in Sutton.
