Multilingual Counselling

What is Multilingual Counselling?

Are you new to the UK, or living here for work or study? There may be times when you miss home and family, you may struggle to feel understood – or perhaps you have moments of feeling isolated without the support of people who know you best. This can make you feel anxious, depressed or stressed, and can affect how you feel about yourself.

At The Awareness Centre we have a team of multilingual therapists who understand the possible challenges you’re facing, and can offer counselling support in your native language. They offer a warm, confidential space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings – and they make it easier for you to express emotions in your mother tongue rather than having to translate everything into English.

Our multilingual counsellors work in more than 25 languages and are trained to work with a number of issues, from relationship and family concerns, to anxietybereavement, sexuality, abuse, bullying, addiction, anger and depression and use a number of approaches to therapy. They work with individuals, couples and families.

Our counsellors offer support and help you resolve your difficulties. Our therapists appreciate and respect difference and diversity in culture, age, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, physical ability and spirituality.

We offer counselling in the following languages:

We currently provide counselling and psychotherapy in the following languages; Afrikaans, Albanian, Arabic, Bosnian, Croatian, Czech, Dari, English, Farsi, French, German, Greek, Italian, Korean, Kurdish, Lingala, Mandarin, Mongolian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Sign Language (English & British), Slovenian, Slovakian, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Turkish and Ukrainian.

What people say

I’ve been on the rollercoaster of life, and events were spiralling out of my control. I’ve never had therapy before but [my therapist’s] calm and reassuring manner immediately put me at ease and helped me get off the ride. I found her non-judgemental approach and ability to help me break the internalising of my painful life events and address them in a different way invaluable. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking therapy.
